The Coomalie Community Government Council is a local government area in the Northern Territory, situated south of Darwin, Palmerston and Litchfield government areas. The Council governs an area of approx. 2056km2 and has an estimated population of 1,500.
The vision of the Coomalie Community Government Council is to connect our community, driven by the unique Coomalie landscape. This is to be achieved with focus on the diversity of the social, economic, environmental, and cultural priorities of Coomalie, while prioritizing stability, advocacy, sustainability and wellbeing and resilience of our community.
The Australia Day “Big Brunch” is aimed at engaging with the Community and bringing everyone within the Coomalie Region together. We will provide a toast, bacon, eggs, steak/chops, sausages, baked beans and fresh fruit as a part of the "Big Brunch", prior to the Awards Ceremony. This will be coupled with live music by a local artist to entertain our guests whilst eating, magic and balloon show for our young ones and of course thong-throwing contest that has become a popular activity for Australia Day celebrations.
In the lead up to the day we will ensure a saturation of advertising within our local communities to raise awareness of the day, as well as ensuring cultural sensitivity behind what the day means.
