The Federation of Indian Associations of ACT (FINACT), in partnership with Vinnies, Rotary Australia, and Fair Canberra, will host a family-friendly community event on 26 January 2025 to celebrate Australia Day. Open to all, including international students, the event embraces the 2025 theme-Reflect, Respect, Celebrate.
Key activities include:
1) A drawing competition for children aged 3-12 based on the Australia Day theme, with submissions judged prior and prizes awarded on the day.
2) A free BBQ for over 500 attendees.
3) A didgeridoo performance and welcome ceremony by Ngunnawal Elders and migrant community members.
4) Live music and cultural performances by emerging artists.
This inclusive event fosters harmony, unity, and nationalism, particularly among first-generation migrants.
