Ambassador program
2010 Australia Day Ambassador Program
Proudly presented by Woolworths Limited, the Ambassador Program started in New South Wales in 1990 with only nine Ambassadors. The program is now delivered in every state and territory in Australia and is one of the most successful nation-wide programs supporting regional communities. Since its inception in Queensland in 2005, the program has sent over 150 Ambassadors to local Australia Day festivities state-wide.
The Australia Day Ambassador Program aims to capture the true spirit of Australia Day by encouraging communities across Queensland to come together and support the celebration of this important national day. The program sends high achieving, inspirational Queenslanders from diverse fields and backgrounds to local council events throughout the state on Australia Day.
This year, a total of 32 Ambassadors and 22 councils came together to support and celebrate Australia Day throughout Queensland. Celebrations ranged from citizenship and flag raising ceremonies to coconut bowling, vegemite cooking competitions and bush tucker tours.
