Event ideas: Longer prepation and planning
This resource provides some extra ideas for larger-scale events which require more resources and more complex planning and event management. These would not be do-able for small communities, but could provide springboards to inspire suitable events.
To effectively plan and organise the events in this section, you'll most likely need a partner such as a local film or art club or history group.
You'll also need to work to attract input (ideas, resources funding, knowledge and skills) probably from places outside your immediate Australia Day organising group. Most of these ideas need over six month lead time.
But this shouldn't deter you! Many communities have rich, untapped resources. You might through simple promotion activities, unearth locals full of surprises - as well as enhancing your event, attracting new audiences and even establishing a new Australia Day tradition for your community.
