Bunch Ride
Tuesday, 26 January 2010
6:00 AM to 8:15 AM
Nightcliff Swimming Pool
Casuarina Drive, Nightcliff
NT
The Darwin Cycling Club invites people to come along for a ride on the 26th January. The 65 km ride will follow the same route as the weekly bunch ride which takes place every Saturday morning. Starting at 6:00 AM at the Nightcliff swimming pool, the bunch heads out through Brinkin, Leanyer, past Robertson Barracks, around Palmerston, back into the city via Tiger Brennan Drive, along the Esplanade and finishes at Mindil Beach at about 8:15 AM. You will need the appropriate safety gear (approved helmet), and roadworthy bike. Although some people ride mountain bikes we do recommend a racing bike. The bunch will stay together riding 2 abreast, with the lead riders maintaing about 35 km/h. Following riders ride in the slipstream of the faster riders which allows them to keep up. Bunch riding is quite safe, shows you another aspect to cycling, introduces you to what it feels like in a race, and most of all it's really great fun!!!!
