Event advice
When to arrive
The site will be open to the public from 3pm onwards and it is recommended that concert-goers arrive by 5:30pm to secure a place on the lawns. The Australian of the Year Awards start at 6pm and the Australia Celebrates Live concert kicks off at 7.30pm.
Transport
Take a bus to the concert: ACTION will be running normal bus services on Friday 25 January. Catch inter-town route 300 series buses (300, 312, 313, 314, 315, 318, 319) from any bus interchange. Buses depart every 15 minutes and drop off at the Albert Hall bus stop on Commonwealth Avenue.
Event shuttle: A special shuttle from the City or Woden interchange will drop off in front of Old Parliament House. After the event, shuttles will depart from Old Parliament House on King George Terrace and travel to all bus interchanges. For more information, visit ACTION www.action.act.gov.au
Take a taxi: If you’re planning to catch a taxi to and from the concert, taxi ranks are located opposite the Treasury Building along Parkes Place.
Arrive by car: Road closures, including Federation Mall, Parliament Drive and Queen Victoria Terrace will take effect from 6am Friday 25 January to 1am Saturday 26 January 2013. Please take the time to read the event map for Australia Celebrates Live 2013 to plan your trip in advance.
Food and Drink
There will be plenty of food and drinks available for purchase onsite. You are welcome to bring food and drink, but encouraged NOT to bring glass. Alcohol will be available for purchase on site. Fresh drinking water will also be available onsite. Please see event map for locations.
Lost Children
Event staff will be operating a lost children tent at which children (or distressed parents) will be cared for until they are reunited with their loved ones. See the event map for the location of tents.
Disabled Parking
Vehicles with appropriate disabled parking authorisation will have access to a disabled parking area located at the East Block car park, off Queen Victoria Terrace (adjacent to the National Archives of Australia).
Accessible Viewing Area
The accessible viewing area is located on Federation Mall, a short distance from the disabled parking area. Primary carers/immediate partners are welcome. Please check the location on the event map.
Family Room
A family room will be operational during the event to give parents privacy when attending to young children. The tent will be stocked with change tables, nappy bins, seats, water and a microwave oven.
What To Bring and What Not To Bring
Be sure to bring along water, sunscreen and a hat, a picnic rug or folding chair to Australia Celebrates Live 2013 to ensure a comfortable concert experience.
For the safety and comfort of patrons, the following are not permitted onsite: pets (excluding assistance dogs); glass, including bottles; large shade structures or large umbrellas.
Managed access
In order to create a more enjoyable event for everyone the entire concert site will be fenced for Australia Celebrates Live 2013. Please enter and exit the venue through the entry points marked on the event map.
