Deputy Chief Fire Officer

Professional firefighter for over 37 years with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade - Melbourne. Awarded the Australian Fire Services Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 1991.
Has managed many of the departments in the MFB. Since appointment to Assistant Chief Fire Officer/Director in 1990 has held positions of Director Human Resources, Director Emergency Response, Director Corporate Relations, Director Office of the CEO and Director Community Safety (current).
Responsible for building approvals, public education, dangerous goods storage, handling and transport, safety at major events and fire investigation.
Has travelled extensively overseas to study fire service and emergency management in the USA, UK, Canada and Asia.
Has tertiary qualifications in management and is a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
Completed the Executive Fire Officers Program (USA) 1993, and the Senior Program for State and Local Government Executives (Harvard University) 1994.
Visited New York City Fire Department 6 months after the World Trade Centre attack in September 2001.
