Bill Noonan

Bill Noonan is a 69-year-old man, currently a Commissioner of the National Transport Commission and Chair of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation. His desire to effect change, improve the lives of people and assist the community has not diminished after 47 years in the transport industry.

He sits on numerous boards and committees passing on his experience and understanding of key health, safety and financial issues.

Starting out as a truck driver with the Caltex Oil Company in 1964, his talent for connecting with people and understanding their problems and implementing action was quickly recognised by being elected to the Transport Workers Union Branch Committee of Management just six years after entering the industry.

Highly committed to his own fitness and health, he is a former president and now life member of the Victorian Road Runners Club. Bill is also a member of the National Male Health Reference Group.

He remains very active physically, having run 23 marathons and numerous fun runs. He is a loyal supporter of the Western Bulldogs Football Club. 

Born in 1942, he is married to Colleen, has two adult children, Lisa and Wade, four grandchildren and has lived in Greensborough for 40 years.

Bill received an OAM in 2006 for service to the Road Transport Industry, particularly in Road Safety and the Trade Union Movement.
