Jenny Woodward is well known to audiences across Queensland as the ABC TV News weather presenter.
After starting work as an actress, Jenny moved into television. In her long career she has worked as a writer, editor, producer and presenter over a broad range of shows, but has now become synonymous with weather reporting across the state.
Jenny has presented the weather from many amazing locations, but the favourite of these outside broadcasts would have to be the quirky Brisbane Ekka reports surrounded by a menagerie of often noisy and badly behaved animals of all shapes and sizes.
In addition to her nightly weather report Jenny has done current affairs stories for Stateline and now 7.30 Queensland and also has regular spots on ABC Radio.
She has also contributed to several books and been a fill in radio announcer for the afternoon program on 612 Brisbane.
Over the last two years, Jenny has been reporter and presenter on The Weather Quarter—a specialist weather program which is shown regularly across the country on ABC NEWS24.
Jenny is in demand as a guest speaker, compere and facilitator for a variety of events and functions.
She has compered the annual Christmas Concert series, Spirit of Christmas, for the Queensland Performing Arts Centre for many years. Most recently she has hosted a series of live simulcasts, broadcast throughout regional Queensland, of world renowned concerts and opera, including the Vienna Philharmonic and Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestras.
For the past five years Jenny has been appointed an Australia Day Ambassador. In that role she has been part of the celebrations in Longreach, Thursday Island, the Queensland Gulf country, Cooktown and Winton.
She has won a Queensland Media Award but her most treasured accolade came from the Bureau of Meteorology for Outstanding Broadcasting Service.
Last year Jenny celebrated 25 years as Weather Presenter at the ABC. It’s believed that she is Australia’s longest serving weather presenter—a title she plans to defend for some time yet.
