Jayme Richardson

Richardson, Jayme

Jayme Started Competitive Cycling at 16 years of age.

Why Cycling? I was a swimmer for five years aiming for the Paralympics but the times I needed were impossible for me to reach so I was looking for another sport and I always loved riding my bike. Claire McLean was interviewed in Athens after winning a silver medal and said 'We need more people to join cycling.' So I answered her call.

Career highlights and most memorable moments include; winning a bronze medal and breaking my own world record at the Beijing Paralympic Games in the 500m time trial and then making the final of the 3000m pursuit where I took 17 seconds off my personal best time and only missed the bronze medal by half a second and; being chosen as a panel member of the 2009 IPC Women's Sports Conference in Darwin.
